Hodgson Singers premiere of "The Voice of Spring"

DMA composer Benjamin Dawson's final collaborative piece as Composer-in-Residence with the Hodgson Singers, The Voice of Spring, was performed in March 2020. Watch the premiere on YouTube:

 

UGA Graduate Student Premieres at 2020 NASA

Masters student composer Kevin Day will have his work, More Than Words, premiered at the 2020 North American Saxophone Alliance with an ensemble of UGA student performers from Dr. Connie Frigo's saxophone studio. His work for solo saxophone and piano, "Unquiet Waters" was also the winner of the 2020 NASA Composition Competition. Congratulations, Kevin!

Congratulations to Mike Flynn on the selection of his work "Tourmaline" in the Call for Electronics category at the Northwestern University New Music Conference (NUNC!)

 

2019-20 Hodgson Singers Student Composer-in-Residence Announced

Congratulations to Benjamin Dawson, winner of the 2019-20 Large Ensemble Student Composer-in-residence competition! He will compose 3 new works for the Hodgson Singers over the course of the 2019-2020 season.

 

2018-19 UGA Symphony Orchestra Student Composer-in-Residence Announced

Congratulations to Sydney Doemel winner of the 2018-19 Large Ensemble Student Composer-in-residence competition! Her work, "Synapse" will be premiered by the UGASO in spring of 2019.

Rote Hund Muzik / DawgBytes Commission and Call-for-proposals Winner Announced

Congrats to the Rote Hund Muzik / DawgBytes Commission Call-for-proposals winner, Becky Brown! Her new work "I have a deep and enduring need to become real" will be premiered March 26, 2019 at the Dancz Center for New Music at UGA.
